Sunday Sewing

Sunday's like today - cold, gray, rainy - are perrrrfect for sewing, no? Though I told myself I would stay away from the shop on my day off, I snuck in to finish up a few projects. My sweet, senior labrador Molly was lucky enough to come along for the ride today - she's normally a little nervous in the shop (something about the slick floors?) but quickly made herself at home underneath the cutting table.

While Molly snoozed, I tested a new tutorial I'm working on for a padded iPad Case made with laminated cotton. For this version, I used the new Dear Stella Peacock laminated cotton. Love this look - very chic. There are a few tweaks I need to make to the pattern, but hopefully I can get it posted for you soon.

My friend Stephanie joined Molly and I in the studio and surprised us with a fun weekend project of her own. She brought a styrofoam tree form in with her and used one of our Kaffe Fassett Fall 2011 Design Rolls to embellish it. I love this project idea! Steph cut the design roll strips into small squares and then used a point turner to press the squares into the form. She finished up the tree later at home and texted me the results. Don't you love this? We're on the hunt to find a sparkly star for the top.

While Stephanie decorated her tree, I traced and traced and traced and traced pattern pieces for a dress from the Built by Wendy Knits book using our brand new Smooth Knit Ruffle Fabric in "Weathered Walnut". Can't wait to show it off... if I ever get it made. Hope you all had a wonderfully crafty weekend as well! Please be sure to share pics on our Facebook page.
