Make Gourmet Lollipops and Gumdrops at Home

September is almost over, and this is about the time that I start thinking about holiday gifts. Not that I will actually start buying/making gifts right now (that’s what the day before Christmas is for. Duh.) but I love the romantic notion that I am the type of person who plans and makes their holiday gifts three months in advance. (I am not. But a girl can dream.)

This year I thought about making herbal bath products, but then I saw the new series Modern Handcrafted Candy on Bluprint, and I am completely OBSESSED and I have cleared my calendar for the next three weeks to do nothing but MAKE CANDY. Check out the trailer!

The class is taught by Jami Curl (aka Portland's Candy Queen), the founder of QUIN, a small-batch, handmade candy company based in Portland, Oregon, and the author of “Candy is Magic”.

She had me at Lollipops! I mean, beautiful, modern homemade lollipops? What could be a cuter gift??? Not holiday-ish enough? Then what about HOMEMADE GUMDROPS?? Holy crap. How cool is that. (“Oh, why yes, this IS my gingerbread house that I made completely from scratch. Thanks for asking!”) I’m literally bouncing off the walls because all of this fits right in with my domestic goddess fantasy and might just win me Aunt of the Year. (Vote for me!)

The class includes 6 streaming lessons (accessible anywhere and anytime):

  1. Building Flavor with Real Ingredients

  2. Hard Candy

  3. Caramels

  4. Dreams Come Chew

  5. Gumdrops

  6. Marshmallows

In additional to a discussion forum in the virtual classroom with answers from fellow classmates, the class includes 17 downloadable recipes:

Rose Syrup
Roasted Strawberries with Lemon
Roasted Blackberries with Lime & Nutmeg
Popcorn Cream
Everyday Popcorn
