CPC #1: Travel Shoe Bag Tutorial
Have you started on your Pinterest Challenge projects yet? This morning I finished up my first pin: the Travel Shoe Bag Tutorial from Sew4Home. It was a cinch to put together and is super cute! One of my friends on Facebook asked if I could make a guy version.
I used all Echino Nico fabrics and made a few changes: The tutorial calls for 1/3-1/2 yard of both exterior fabrics. Since we cut generously at CityCraft, you only need to get 1/3 yard for the top piece and, as it turns out, only 1/8 yard for the bottom part. The bottom exterior is made out of two 4x12 inch pieces. So, you don't need as much fabric as the tute originally calls for.
Based on comments that readers left on the original post, I decided to add an inch to the bottom pieces (since I originally cut 1/3 yard for it and had lots of fabric to work with). Instead of using grommets, which can be hard to find, I made two buttonholes and then created my own ties instead of using cord. I used hot pink Robert Kaufman flannel for the interior. I love it!
So now it's on to my second project. (This is fun!)
(I'm skipping over the Joel Dewberry dress that was pinned after the shoe bag. I've already got one of those in progress.)
