Wow. CityCraft opened its doors two years ago. Can you believe it? Since opening in October of 2009, CityCraft has taught more than 1,000 North Texans how to sew, sold more than 40,000 yards of fabric, and watched hundreds of CityCraft babies grow up. So much has happened since our opening: expanding into the space next door, adding a wider variety of fabric styles to our selection, partnering with local organizations in our community to give back, but we are most proud of the fact that, thanks to your support, we are able to successfully carry out our mission every day: To support and inspire the young, modern Dallas crafter in their desire to create one-of-a-kind handmade items by offering contemporary crafting fabrics, high quality supplies, and classes in sewing, crafting and general creativity; To act in the best interest of our employees, our shareholders, and the Dallas community at large.
Admittedly, the "shareholders" part is a lofty goal, but you never know, right? There could be CityCrafts in the far reaches of the country someday. Never say never! I never said "never" when CityCraft was merely a twinkle in my eye. I never gave up. I never let the bad days defeat me. Opening, owning, and operating CityCraft has been all at once the most exhilarating and the most challenging experience of my life.
Every day I wake up and thank my lucky stars for a team that I wouldn't know what to do without. I thank my lucky stars for the best customers (YOU!) in the world. You never fail to impress me with your creativity, your loyalty, your support, and your friendship. Above all, friendship.
To celebrate our second birthday, we're throwing open the CityCraft doors for an all-day "Make and Take" event to celebrate the creative art of sewing and hopefully introduce our passion to even more enthusiastic students.
This Saturday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm, drop in anytime at CityCraft (no reservations needed) to Make and Take a designer ribbon key fob - the perfect gift for someone else or yourself! We estimate the project to take about 15 minutes to complete from start to finish. Instructors will be on-hand to teach you how to use our machines, help you select your key fob materials, and help you walk away with a completed project. Participation in the Make and Take event is complimentary after a $5 materials fee.
Been telling all your friends about CityCraft? Bring them with you and let them see just how easy sewing can be! The project is open to all ages (under 8 must have parent supervision and assistance) and we even have materials that are suitable for members of the male persuasion! (Can you say "date afternoon"?)
