Summertime is here! Though it feels like it's been summer for some time now here in Big D, school is now officially out and the lazy days of summer have begun - summer camp, beach trips, pool time...ice cream! Coinciding nicely with the arrival of summer this year was the arrival of one of our favorite new fabric collections, Lucy's Crab Shack by Sweetwater for Moda. The sherbet-colored dots and plaids captured the summer spirit here at CityCraft, and we thought it would make the perfect kid-size quilt -- or beach blanket! We wanted a quilt pattern that didn't cut the fabrics into tiny pieces so you could really get a sense of each print. For our quilt - which we call the Crab Shack Colorblock - we used a quilt pattern by Bijoux Lovely called Colorblock. This pattern is available for download from the Bijoux Lovely site. It's a well-written pattern, very easy to follow and pretty quick to put together. I was able to finish this quilt in less than a week.
